A total of 64 official nominees have been announced across 13 Icon categories for the upcoming Virgin Islands Icon Awards 2026, following months of public nominations, careful review, and deliberation by the Assembly of Judges.

The nominees, released on May 10, represent excellence in sports, entrepreneurship, corporate responsibility, industrial leadership, aesthetics, service to the Sister Islands, media, music, visual arts, agriculture, humanitarian work, and national leadership.

After the Final Call for Nominations issued in February, hundreds of submissions were reviewed and assessed to determine the five strongest contenders in each category.

“This year’s nominations truly reflect the depth of talent, impact, and legacy that exists throughout our Territory. The stories behind these nominees are powerful reminders that greatness lives among us every day.”

— Kareem Nelson Hull, Founder & Executive Producer, The Virgin Islands Icon Awards

What’s New This Year

Icons and Legends Celebrated on One Stage

There is one defining element that makes the 2026 staging different from previous years. This year, the ceremony will honour both Icons and Legends on the same stage.

Icons are the official nominees selected through the public nomination and judging process and will be voted on as part of the awards. Legends are individuals and entities selected based on previous nominations, historical contribution, and market research — recognising those whose lifetime impact has already been firmly established in Virgin Islands history.

Legends will be celebrated across 12 distinguished categories: Religion, Spirituality & Inspiration; History, Culture & Tradition; Writers & Publishing; Education & Youth Development; Health, Lifestyle & Fitness; Commerce: Family Legacies; Media Presenters; Event & Interior Design; Tourism; Sports Athletic Performance; Nation Building, Pride & Patriotism; and Music & Performance.
